Starts & ends at Kendall College, 900 N. North Branch St.
First, visit Kendall College. See and taste first-hand how chefs-in-training draw from the school's gardens to create the sumptuous dishes served at Kendall College's esteemed Dining Room. Get a guided tour of the vegetable and herb gardens, set against the awe-inspiring downtown skyline.
Next, ride to the historic Ukrainian Village neighborhood and learn how one chef is literally growing vegetables in his backyard. Discover the gem that is A Tavola--an intimate Italian eatery that, with its patio and vegetable garden, is one of the most charming and serene settings in all of Chicago. Meet Chef Daniel Bocik and sample some of his seasonal Italian fare.
This tour ends with Chicago Public Radio Presents' "Growing a Green, Healthy Neighborhood" event in Englewood, which includes a chef demonstration, farm tour, and delicious food and drinks. The Fork and the Road tour fee includes admission to the Chicago Public Radio event.
Riders at the end of the day can choose to depart on their own from the Wood Street Urban Farm or return to Kendall College by bike with Fork and the Road at 4:30 pm.*
*In keeping with our tour policies, riders who choose to consume any alcoholic beverages at the Wood Street Urban Farm event will not be permitted to ride back to Kendall College with Fork and the Road.
