Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the start of the tour will be subject to a 15% processing fee.
If Fork and the Road must cancel a tour due to inclement weather after it begins, we will issue a refund based on the percentage of the tour not completed. Example: If there is one stop remaining on a four-stop tour, we will refund 25% of each rider's tour fee.
No refunds will be issued to riders who choose not to complete a tour or who show up late or not at all. [back to top]
It's no fun riding through a downpour, yet we can't cancel too quickly for those who have come a long way to ride with us and for the small restaurant and shop owners who are expecting us and counting on our business.
| Weather Condition | What Happens |
| Light to moderate rain | We do the tour, and we provide emergency rain ponchos if you do not have your own. |
| Heavy downpour | Before the tour: If our best weather predictions are for heavy rain, we will call you to cancel the night before or the morning of your tour. If we do not contact you to cancel, the tour will proceed as scheduled. During the tour: If the tour is underway, and the weather becomes inclement, we will stop the tour and refund tour fees for the percentage of the tour not completed. |
If you decide because of weather to stop riding, but the tour has not be cancelled by Fork and the Road, all applicable cancellation fees noted above will apply. [back to top]
Each tour description includes the approximate number of miles we will be riding and the tour start and end times. Each tour will begin promptly at the start time listed in the tour description. Please budget your travel time to the starting point so that you are on time.
If you will be renting a bike, allow extra time. We do not give refunds to riders who are late. If you have questions, please contact us at forkandtheroad@gmail.com. If you need to reach us with questions on the day of your tour, please call us at 847-529-5790 or 773-610-2432.
Note that tour end times are approximate. There is a chance we may be delayed by traffic, unexpected crowds at a restaurant, a flat tire or other factors. We plan to end each tour on time, but we cannot guarantee that there won't be some surprises that will keep us from doing that. [back to top]
Food
The food and beverages to be sampled on each tour are carefully selected by Fork and the Road to compliment the tour theme and represent the finest offerings of each establishment. The tour fee covers all food but not beverages on these pre-determined menus. Riders are responsible for the cost of any additional food or drinks they wish to consume.
For your safety, we do not allow any consumption of alcohol during our tours. [back to top]
